This shy monotreme is known to live in the Cattai catchment however little is known about just how many there are. CHEN, in partnership with Western Sydney University, is testing for the platypus using eDNA technology.
Koalas are incredibly unique species. 10 years after a fire that severely reduced their population, the Hills Koalas have returned! They are frequently being spotted by residents. CHEN is committed to protecting them.

Maroota Forest Koalas and Biodiversity
In 2019, with the help of WSU CHEN surveyed for koalas and biodiversity in Maroota Forest. While no images or clear koala callings were captured, what was captured confirmed the biodiversity value of Maroota and the need to protect it.
